Events in Murdock Land

Dear Sister Kennedy,

I almost forgot to write you this week.  I had just shut down my computer and started putting on my pajamas when I suddenly realized I hadn't written to you yet.  And Justin hadn't written to Shelby.  So we both booted up our computers again and started typing.  Anyway, how are the new pink shoes?  I was so not surprised when I saw the picture.  ;)

Justin and I went out for dinner Friday night.  He got a coupon for Outback Steakhouse, so we decided to take advantage and not cook that night.  Yummy steaks!  We also went to the Sketchers outlet near our apartment and we each got a new pair of shoes.  They were having a sale and my shoes were totally worn out, so we splurged.  Yay for new shoes!  After dinner, we wandered around Barnes and Noble for a while.  A dangerous past-time, I know.  ;)  Don't worry, we still have a bank account.  We actually didn't buy anything.  Gasp!  Two English majors got out of a bookstore without buying any books!  It's a miracle!

Monday was our swing final in our dance class.  We did pretty well, I think.  Justin picked up swing way better than we thought he would.  It was also our final for the whole class, because the semester is ending.  Which means no more dancing.  :(  Maybe I can talk him into taking another one.

Justin's sister Shelby comes home from her mission on Thursday.  I can't believe it's already been a year and a half since she left.  We're driving up Thursday night, and then she'll speak that Sunday.  We'll see how well she does speaking English again, since she's been speaking Tagalog for 18 months.  Should be interesting.

Well, I'm going to sign off now and head to bed.  Have to get up early in the morning.  Blah.  Hugs and lots of love.

Murdock land

Dear Sister Kennedy,

This will probably be kind of short.  I'm feeling a little off today.

I had to wrangle our Primary class by myself today.  The men had a special lesson today during third hour about home teaching, so the ladies all had to handle our Primary classes by ourselves.  They sent a sister from Relief Society to be the second adult present so we weren't breaking any rules, but I had to teach the class by myself.  And I had all five kids to deal with today.  Plus, the sister who came to "help" me was the mom of one of the girls in our class.  Which means the girl was not behaving as usual, and since she's the ringleader, none of the other kids were particularly well-behaved either.  Primary was hard today.

Our dance class on Monday was all about swing.  Since we've finished all the other dances, we spent the entire class working on triple-step swing.  I think we were all exhausted by the end of class.  Justin's been picking up swing really well.  I thought for sure that he'd hate it, but he's been doing really well with it.  Our final is tomorrow, and then we're all done for the semester.  Wish us luck!

One of Justin's home teaching families had their first baby this week, so we took them dinner yesterday.  Crazy thing about that, is that Justin had no idea he was home teaching them.  He got a call earlier this week from the compassionate service leader telling him that he was this couple's home teacher, so we needed to take them dinner.  Same thing happened to the guy who's supposed to be Justin's companion.  They met for the first time today after church.  Some communication from the Elder's quorum would have been great, guys.  Oh well.  At least they know, now.

Anyway, my head's feeling a little muzzy, so I'll end here.  Love you, little sis.  Hugs!

Murdock Update

Dear Sister Kennedy,

Soo, I totally forgot to write you last Sunday.  By the time I remembered, it was like 11:30 and we were going to bed, so I thought I'd write you on my lunch break on Monday, but your letter came before that, so that's why there was no letter from me last week.  Oops.

The biggest thing from last week was my birthday.  Justin came home on Friday with a bouquet of flowers, a bottle of Martinelli's, and a bag of chocolates for me.  Then on Saturday, he took me to see the new live-action Cinderella movie (which was amazing, by the way) and then we went to dinner at this really fancy restaurant (I've attached a screenshot from their website).  He spoils me so bad!

Then this week, Mom and Richard came down to visit.  Mom, Justin, and I went to see Ballet West perform Aladdin (way awesome) and Richard hung out with some mission buddies.  Mom and Richie camped out in our living room that night, then Richie went to a mission reunion in Salt Lake to watch Conference, and Mom, Justin, and I stayed home and watched it in our pajamas.  Between sessions, we went to a rare Bible exhibit nearby.  They had a Tyndale Bible, pages from a Gutenberg Bible, a whole bunch of other rare Bibles, Joseph and Hyrum Smith's personal copies of the Book of Mormon, etc.  Seriously cool stuff there.  All three of us loved it.  And then today, we went to Matt and Bridget's for Easter dinner.  Those kids are so cute!

One of my old FHE brothers from BYU-I posted on Facebook that his sister was graduating from BYU and moving back east, so she was selling a bunch of her stuff, including a 42" Samsung HD plasma TV.  She was selling it for $275, and when we looked it up on Amazon, the used ones started at $375.  So we bought it.  We have a really nice TV now.  :)

Justin's been bugging me to play Final Fantasy VII for a while, so I finally started it last night.  The controls are completely different from Final Fantasy VIII.  I'm having a really hard time adjusting.  But Final Fantasy VII has one of the most involved story lines of any video game ever made, so I think I'll tough it out.

Well, that about covers it, so I think I'll sign off.  Hugs and much love.
